07.23.26 - Where reconciliation 3.0 stands + a new toolkit!

The House is heading home for August after approving a blueprint for a $95-billion partisan bill to funnel more taxpayer dollars into the war on Iran, put a bandaid on the price spikes it’s caused for farmers and consumers, and suppress voting rights. The package still faces an uncertain future in the Senate, as we discussed in our Monday edition. We’ll see if that future becomes clearer over the next two weeks, after which the Senate, too, will leave Washington for August.

Before this newsletter also takes a break for the August recess, I’m excited to share a new resource: Stronger Together: A Guide to Neighborhood Organizing

Just this summer, we’ve experienced terrifying natural disasters, immigration agents’ violence, and attacks on voting rights and trans kids, while at the same time millions have had their food and health care access taken away.

If you’re feeling angry or frightened, you’re not alone. And if you’re unsure what you can do to address the issues facing your community, Stronger Together: A Guide to Neighborhood Organizing can help you figure out where to start. It’s an easy-to-use toolkit for making life better where you live, whether you’re looking for practical checklists, sample materials and scripts, or groups to connect with—no previous organizing experience required.

We hope this resource helps you feel less overwhelmed and ready to organize. Wishing you a safe, fulfilling rest of the summer. Thank you for reading.

If you’d like a live update for your group or coalition, reach out to catherine@webuildprogress.org. Thanks!
