Organizing & Capacity Building

A promotional graphic featuring four diverse people smiling, with a blue background and official logo at the top right corner that includes the Capitol building and the text "We Build Progress." The text overlay states "Organizing & Capacity Building," with additional description about providing training for grassroots leaders and community organizations, and a slogan "We Build Progress."

We Build Progress supports grassroots organizations from across the country through organizing, capacity-building, cross-movement solidarity, and training to ensure our movements can build people-power. Our team’s briefings, customized trainings, easy-to-use tools, and capacity-building support for our partners help grassroots organizations understand what’s happening in D.C., strengthen their organizing, and fight for the policies and programs that make a real difference in their lives.

Our team provides campaign support and trainings for grassroots leaders and community organizations on topics including:

  • Demystifying the legislative process: Providing guidance on how Congress works, including key procedures, timelines, and points of influence.

  • Understanding legislative proposals and strategy: Breaking down bills and budget measures to highlight community impacts and opportunities for engagement.

  • Strengthening strategic advocacy: Offering support on shaping effective, legally compliant, issue campaigns. We can help translate your vision into a strategy to make policy change real.

  • Build your organizing and narrative muscle: Our experienced organizers provide support to link policy and organizing, refine your story-telling, and use issue campaigns to build a bigger movement.

Just like we’ve brought food to a neighbor in mourning or helped an elderly neighbor shovel their walkway, we can help protect each other by joining together and organizing at the neighborhood level. This toolkit is designed to provide some first steps, tips, and tools to help you get started.
